I am going to buy a halcyon single wing. I weigh about 170lbs and dive the cold waters of monterrey, CA with one piece 7mil suit. I currently dive the Aqualung Malibu RDS which has 40lbs of lift. I don't want to get more bulk than I need but I am afraid the 36lbs pioneer wing will not be enough but the 45 will be more than I need. What size do you recommend?

The 36 is more than enough. I've even gotten away with a 27 but I was a bit low sitting on the surface.
