What on earth are these things?

IMG_2403.jpg

I snapped a couple pics of them while in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico just the other day.

Thanks.

PS - Here are some of the other pics I took on the trip: http://www.scubaboard.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=48974

Should I upload my videos too? :)

Flamingo tongues (Cyphoma gibbosum) - snails. The colorful part is the mantle - part of the animal that they use to cover the shell.

Some information about flamingo tongue's here http://www.reefnews.com/reefnews/photos/flamtong.html
If you like photographing them just keep an eye out for gorgonians (Sea fans, sea rods etc.)
Nice pics btw

I cleaned it up a bit for you.

Holy moly, how did you do that?! I assume it's a PhotoShop color tweak; I have PS but haven't learned how to properly re-color my photos. Any tips?

Thanks!

wow, im curious as well! i too have ps and would have MUCH better pics if i had the photoshop abilities:)

Since this is in the UW photography forum and not in the "Name That Critter" forum it means we get to play :D
Here is my tweak...first clicked with the color cast tools, then auto levels and played down the saturation. If you play too much the picture gets washed out....

I usually start with auto levels and work from there. I haven't taken the time to learn everything about PS, but I do use the auto levels a lot.
