Hi everybody,

I'am a French and fresh Open Water (last year) and I would like to get by PADI Advance in Key West and do some additional dives during a one week stay there in May June.

I am looking around for a good and reliable dive operator / instructor... I am not necessarily looking for a big organization.

Sub-tropic seems to be well-regarded. At least, seemed to be. Any recent news on it?

Do you know other operators?

Many thanks in advance for you answers.

Cheers,

Jerome

Recent news on Subtroic?

a month or so ago they ran their main boat up on a reef and broke the keel. clearly an accident. I'd check to see if they have their boat operational first...

see http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/florida-conch-divers/219710-subtropic-glad-no-one-hurt.html

I used them a few years ago and had a positive experience with them and would use them again though.

I believe I saw that Southpoint had moved to across the street from the Hyatt, where their boat is docked. I second this recommendation, I did my AOW with them a couple years ago.

Stay away from Subtropic, they are a total mess. They are left with thier small boat and pack on 12 or so divers and they do not have a steady crew.
Southpoint Divers is very professional, very experienced, knowledgable crew and have the best boat in Key West.

Many, many thanks for your help. I guess Southpoint Divers should be the winner!

Let's hope they will reply to my email.

Cheers,

Jerome
