Dixie Divers is running a miracle of life trip the afternoon of saturday
Sept. 5th. Trying to get a few dives lined up for the weekend. The top
of the wheel house comes in at 105 ft. and to cruise above the deck back
to the stern you could find yourself in the 120ft to 130ft. range. I'd like
to plan to take an easy cruise back to the stern to observe the old boat
name on the stern and then return above the deck back to the
wheel house for the ascent. I'll be diving a single 100cf tank. I am
planning on staying on the exterior of the wreck with no penetration.
Just call dixie divers for a seat and hope for good weather for the weekend !

An HP100 is a little tight for that kind of dive. Absolutely no room to play. Might be worth it to grab an HP120 or HP130 from Fill Express on your drive over.

Yeah, your right about that. I was actually just thinking of that today.
I'll be over at fill express anyway picking up a tank of mine so I may just
rent an HP120 for the weekend. I used my HP100 last time on the wreck and
the conditions were fantastic so I did ok but with less than perfect conditions
a little more would be nice.

Topside conditions were pretty good Saturday. I think the light breeze from
the east and a little overcast kept the temps in check. Unfortunately the
current on the wreck was very brisk. Running from north to south it was
running from the stern toward the bow. The plan was to get back toward
the stern while staying at max depth of 125 feet or so. While we maintained
our 125 ft max depth at about 20 ft. from the stern we decided to turn it around
for a brisk return with current back to the wheelhouse and back to the line.
Some divers were having a little easier go of it a bit deeper just to the north
of the structure above the deck. I suppose in front of the wheelhouse at
the upper deck level would have provided better cover. I'm not gonna give
up on this wreck, my first dive on it was great but these wrecks can certainly
be great one weekend and a real challange the next.
