did Disney drastically raise the price this year?

I did it two years ago for $135 I think. (after a 10% discount if you say you're with PADI, NAUI, AA, etc).

If you had 10 or more people (which seems you're trying to get), you got it for even a much lower rate. the group rate is $1,000 for up to 12 divers. which works out to $83 each for 12 divers or $100 each for 10 divers as you're getting.

Where does the extra $99+ come in (for $199) ? (or is there something I'm missing here? :idk:)

EDIT: btw.... after you get finished diving, you get free admission to the park after the dive.

$279??? Ah........................... wow!
That kind of dough ought to come with a few righteous rounds at the tequila bar in the Mexican pavilion to get ya in the mood for the tank dunk. You can't get deep enough in the tank to get enough psi's squeezing in you to help the joy juice really work properly though.

The cost last year was $175.00. If you are a AAA member you receive a 15% discount making the total $148.75 but you have to mention it (they will not ask you). I dove Epcot "The Seas" twice last year & loved it. March & May 2009. Click on my link with travel advisor to get more info (look for the one by manatee_zone). Hope it helps. If you can get this dive for the price it's so worth it! Great Experience and totally worth the extra $!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Review of Epcot Divequest, Orlando, FL - TripAdvisor

No need to call, the price for individuals is $175 right on their website.
Disney World Backstage Tours, Disney tours

Still the "group rate" for up to 12 divers is/was $1,000

So they are taking 10 people, plus I assume 2 people from their shop, that essentially the 10 customers pay for.

The price for the 10 customers to go is $100 per diver.

So even with the group rate at $199/diver , they should have a "great social party" with Tequilla shooters, etc! :thumb:

(somewhere... someone is really "padding" the price of this trip it seems. Maybe I'm wrong. maybe it includes a "chartered bus" from their location. but it doesn't advertise such extra's above).

I can understand a LDS covering the cost of it's employee's going... and maybe a slight extra to cover other expenses, etc. but 100% markup on an aquarium dive trip just seems high. 10 people at 199 each basically equates to $1,000 profit on an aquarium trip. Just my observation.
