I did some searches on these two but was unable to find a lot of information since they are both fairly new. I am leaning towards the excursion 2 because i like the fit (though both fit extremely well) because the Seahawk seems to come up my side a little more than the excursion (giving it the feel of a jacket style). Does one hold a significant edge over the other or are they fairly similar?

Go with the Excursion2 it fits you better so that is most important. Also Oceanic is a US company with their factory in Oakland CA. You have to love that.
