What do we do about the Lionfish problem???..

Interesting video. In addition to the lionfish shots, I enjoyed the other species such as the spotted scorpionfish, etc...
 
Nice video, as for the answer to you question. the recreational dive should be properly trained in the bagging or removal of the spines. the actual spearing is very easy it is what you do after spearing the lionfish. There are a couple of containment devices 1 from FOOLS it is a proper bag made from heavy clear plastic and PVC sheeting. Also there is a 6" x 22" lionfish Tube made by A Plus Marine. it will work for lionfish and lobster.
There are 2 specific Lionfish spearing specialty classes that are offered by PADI and SDI which deal with different spears/bags that are offered by the dive centers.
My reccomendation is the dive have some training and proper equipment IE gloves/spear/bag/cutter-sissors/hot packs .......
