I recently purchased a Canon T3i and an Ikelite Housing (6871.60). I
had two brand new Nikonos Sb105 strobes and attached one of them to the housing
with Ikelite cord 4116.31. I find that the strobe will not fire when the
camera is set on manual and I’m trying to shot in “live mode”, if I
take it off “live mode” it works, Is this because it is a non Ikelite
strobe or a faulty cord coming from the camera flash shoe.

Does a DS51 strobe fire when in “live mode” and on manual
setting.

Thanks Hans

Hans,

The SB-105 cannot be used in Live View mode with the T3i. You must have a dedicated flash (our DS strobe with our housing) to be compatible with the T3i. That is a Canon design decision.

When used with our housing, the DS-51 can be used in Live View mode. Simply set the housing to manual flash mode if you want to use the manual power settings.

Best Regards,

Brett Foster - Ikelite

Thanks for the information, i'll be purchasing a DS-51 soon
