I took my cousin, her new squeeze and the rug rats over to Avalon. They loved Catalina and I think that they're planning to come back for vacation on Catalina next year.

We went on the submarine tour, walked through the town, had pizza at Antonio's (in the street and not by the beach), went to Descanso Beach and sunbathed. The squeeze took the kids for some kayaking while my cuz and I got caught up with familial gossips.

Then we walked back to town via Casino Point. I looked at the water longingly. Viz looked pretty good from top side and there weren't even that many divers.

Me and a buddy took his boat over to Emerald Bay Fri and Sat and dove Indian rock and surrounding reefs it was pretty cool but not as good as Casino Pt. I dove there a couple months ago and loved it. Considering most of my diving is in Laguna, Catalina is unbelievable. In fact, I just made reservations today to take the Express over on my Bday which is on a Sat this year so I can dive there again.
Hope you get back and get in!

Sorry you didn't get any diving in HT.
Antonios make a decent pizza.
Always fun doing some kayaking.
You should check out the Wrigley botanical gardens.
I thought the Lobster trap restaurant had some pretty decent food and good micro brews on tap.
If it makes you feel any better, Dr. Bill in another post said the VIS was only 10' this last weekend.

You didn't miss much, HT... conditions were mediocre Sat and Sun due to poor vis, currents and light surge.

Bummer. We had 20-25 ft most places at Indian Rock (Emerald bay) though we stayed on the inside. And that was Friday AM.

Reports from a Sat morning trip on the Sundiver Express said they had 10-15 ft green viz. The GSB were just silhouettes.

Amazing how the vis can change.... last sunday (6/3/12) I had 50+ vis just west of Little Gilbraltar point. Bright Blue Water....
