I have 2 dives on my new 6812.6 housing for my Nikon D600 now and I'm having trouble with the metering mode button. When the camera is in the housing, it seems like there's not enough clearance between the bottom on the plunger on the metering button and the camera, so even when the plunger is not pressed down it partially depresses the button on the camera. When I first put the camera in the housing, it seems to be ok, but I can see that the plunger for the metering button is literally touching the button, unlike the others plungers which have a small amount of clearance between the bottom of the plunger and the button itself. Once I press the metering button, it seems like it never quite disengages and the camera acts as if the button in still pressed, even once I release the button. All other controls seem to be operating fine and I have verified that the camera is sitting properly on the camera tray and that the mounting bolt is screwed in fully.

Is there an adjustment I need to make somewhere or do I need to send the housing back in for repair?

ChrisF,

If you feel there is no problem with the functioning of the button, such as corrosion causing the button to "stick, then you can create more clearance by replacing the plunger on the end of the button with a smaller nylon tip (extra tips came with the housing). If this does not correct the problem, you can remove the tip completely from the end of the push button. If there is still a problem, send the housing to Ikelite for repair.

Please send your housing along with a brief letter of explanation or a copy of this thread, and full contact information to:

Ikelite Underwater Systems
Attn. Service Dept.
50 W. 33rd St.
Indianapolis, IN 46208

Please include your name, complete return address, email, phone number, and your stated problem or service request. Normal service completion time is 2-3 weeks.

Best Regards,

Brett Foster - Ikelite

Thanks Brett. I'll give that a try.

Finally had a chance to get back in the water with the new housing. Switching to the smaller nylon tip did the trick. All buttons are working properly. Thank you!
