So i have been looking around to get my OW certification. I have started the online classes, but need to find a place to do my pool and first dives. I found Rick's Diving Locker (Rick's Diving Locker Escondido | San Diego Scuba Diving (North County) 760-746-8980) and called them up for info. It's appealing to me because it is right around the corner, so a close place for info/gear/repairs/fills/etc would be nice. Has anyone been there/go there? Any advice other than yelp and random reviews would be helpful. If not Rick's, does anyone have some other good places that i can finish my cert? Im in the San Marcos area, but can travel if i need. Thanks

Never been there myself, but go in and talk with the instructor. If you feel good with them go for it. It's always nice to have shop close by.

Go in and interview the owner and instructors as if you were hiring someone to teach your kids. Here are some good questions to start with.

Ask to see the standards they have to train you to in writing.

If there is anything that gives you pause or they try to sell you an expensive gear package up front walk away. If they start talking about classes beyond your initial open water course run away.
