Does anyone know what this is? It is about the size of a dime, spins and will come up off the sand 8-12 inches.

Interesting...any other clues, what did it look like, do you have any other pictures?

What did it remind you of? What color was it? What depth? What was it's habitat?

How did it move? Did it have fins, arms or tentacles? What activity was it doing when you noticed it? How did it react when you got close?
 
Off of the sand? or out of the sand... looks like some type of tube-dwelling anemone to me.

Most of the time it was pulsing or spinning on top of the sand. At one point, it came up 12 inches off the bottom and then floated back down to the bottom.
 
Interesting. In the clip it looks more like a thimble jelly, but it doesn't look like that in the photo. Hmmm...
 
I agree with Karibelle. It's probably a thimble jelly, they have a dark mass inside them. Thats what was probably visible in the still pictures.
