Hi Everyone,

I am a newly OW certified diver looking to do a shore dive this Sunday, anywhere is SoCal or even Casino Point. Is anyone going out Sunday, or know of any groups that regularly do?

Thanks

Kyle

Great, thanks for the info.

Surf report shows 1 ft AM, 3 ft PM. That should be pretty save to rent gear for, correct? And I am guessing I should rent two tanks?

Sorry for all the questions, thanks again for the info.

If you decide to go to Terranea on Sunday to dive with the group of DiveVets, one tank dive is the normal routine.
Bring some snacks or drinks for the post dive briefing and say hi to their leader "The Reverand". He will take good care of you.

Phil, I did not know about the gathering by Dive Vets at Marineland. It is a bit of a drive, but I'll drop down sometime. Skunkteeth, one dive is typical of shore diving in CA. The depths are relatively shallow and by an hour+ I'm usually ready to head home for a hot shower. The report from Malibu Divers for the weekend is low surf and good vis. If I were at home I would definitely go out.

Some of them began showing up there about seven or eight years ago. Now they show up even when conditions are bad just for the debriefing.

The gathering takes place at OML (now Terranea) every Sunday morning at 0800. The group size varies from 4 divers and I have seen 17 one time. Dive is about 45-60 minutes. Parking is free in the upper lot, but fills up. It is a bit of a walk from the parking lot down to either Long Point or the cove. Debriefs are quite good after the dives. Maybe see you there sometime.

Cool beans, Im going to head out there tomorrow morning for my first Cali dive!
