I have a Nikon Coolpix 6300 with an Ikelite housing I use to take pictures when I am diving. I usually use a red filter to correct for color loss in shallower depths. That being said, I recently got my AOW and am looking to dive deeper. If I use a brighter light, 400 lumen, do I still need the filter? I haven't had a chance to take to Underwater photography course yet, so any help would be great.

Thanks Tony. I will see how it does in 10 days.

Lights are only effective at restoring colour at close range, say 15 feet or so. Beyond that, things will still look blue, even with the brightest lights.

thanks for adding that DFX. Question DFX have you noticed how the old halogen lights showed truer colors than the HIDs and LEDS?
