Hi, we're looking for the best snorkeling day tour off Cairns. This is my first chance to explore the Great Barrier Reef & I don't want to waste it on substandard coral / fish!
My husband is a big fan of Green Island, however he hasn't been there for 20 years & I'm worried it might not be what it was. We only have the day (as our toddler will be waiting for us onshore) & snorkeling is my main priority. We're looking at either the Big Cat to Green Island with a snorkel tour from the island, or going with Great Adventures and sailing with them to their pontoon (1km off Green Island) snorkeling there & then getting a transfer to the island if we want. Anyone got experience with either of these operators?
Another option I've found is Reef Quest outer reef tours, they go to Norman Reef, Saxon Reef & Hastings Reef. Are these sites suitable for snorkeling? I can't scuba dive due to weird sinus cavities (plus we can't really afford it).
I really don't want to end up bobbing around on the surface at sites much more suitable for scuba diving, but I also don't want to go to Green Island & find out that off the beach snorkeling is a disappointment. Help me realise a childhood dream please & point me towards the best snorkeling available off Cairns! Thanks so much.
