Hello one and all. I am a South African dive junkie, that lives in the Durban coast, and until recently dived every weekend as a local DM.

I am presently in Aberdeen Scotland for training as a ROV pilot, hence no diving lately. However, this has led me to seriously look into taking up underwater photography, something I have wanted to do for a long time, but never had the funding to per sue in earnest.

This lead s to reason why I need help. I have no experience in Photography at all, but I have had a fairly good look at the advantages offered by digital photography. The following are products I am considering to purchase:

a. SONY DSCF828
b. OLYMPUS C-8080
c. NIKON 8700

My criteria are as follows:

a. Good strobe availability. ( Spares, backup etc. )
b. Slave strobe compatibility with camera. ( Ex. Sea&Sea )
c. Good quality pictures. (Even when enlarged to poster size)
d. Good housing
e. Availability of housing and spares. (No fly by night operator)
f. Longevity of camera.(Must not be outdated in 10 yrs. min.)
g. Relative ease of use. ( In & out of water )
h. Price range: $ 800,00

All information would be welcomed.

Thank

Shaun
