OK,

now as i am going away soon, i thought it wise to connect up all the bits to make sure they work together.

knew the strobe worked anyway, but the instructions on how to set up the sensor were not very helpful.

and no instructions on how to set the camera hot shoe to work with the slave/strobe

after 20 minutes messing around i finaly got the strobe working (set camera to manual flash and the sensor to no preflash), there that took one line take note ikelite.

put the dome on (done that before) but never really messed about with focus etc.

the thing is i can't focus as the focus gear seems to be rubbing on the dome tube and everytime i turn the focus wheel, it tries to twist the port!

hopefully i am doing something wrong, but someone please tell me as i have had the port off/on for the last hour and it still does it and there is no other way of fitting this stuff.

this is doing my head in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh and i forgot to say..... as soon as i put the +4 diopter on it, the camera doesn't like it and refuses to take a picture.

so what do i do there?

You should have the EV Manual Controller. Sync cord goes from the camera to the Manual Controller. Permanent cord attached to the Manual Controller goes to the strobe. Strobe MUST be set to TTL to accept the predetermined power settings. Many answers are on http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/camnikchart.html and the http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/2dm100strobes.html about strobe use with D70, http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/mansenswitch.html, and last but not least your camera owners manual.

You received a special focus/zoom clamp with the housing that provides more clearance. Sleeve should not turn the dome port. I do remember someone reporting in one of the forums that their clamp required sanding for more clearance. We can send anything you need.

Lens will not focus underwater without the + diopter which makes it focus much closer. It will only focus above water in the very limited close focus range dictated by the diopter.

thanks for the prompt reply.

the cables were connected properly as you said, it was the dip switch settings on the manual controller. the paper work that came with it did not list the d70, and the d70 manual would not explain that you have to set the flash to manual to connect an underwater strobe.

just took me 20 mins to sort it out rather than have it in print and done in 5 mins.

i had to sand quite a bit off the zoom ring (couple of 1 - 2 mm)

its all sorted now just frustrating at the time

Bam! Two hour response time from all the way across the pond.

Gotta love it. Way to go Ike and SB! :thumb:
