I'm going to be in Long Beach California this Fourth of July weekend and was wondering where to dive. I will only have Sunday available to dive so somewhere close to Long Beach would be best. Any tips you guy's can give me would be great.

Its home of one of the busiest ports in the world.

I recommend a boat dive - dodging freighters and container ships is overrated.

I don't know if this would fit your plans but I think that I'm going there on the 4th. I'm gonna be on the Encore the night of the 4th thru the afternoon of the 6th. It's a decent boat and the price is right. Catalina and/or the southern channel islands. Lots of kelp and the giant sea bass are back!

It would be sorta cool if you and Blake and Brian could go. Maybe even Cottonwood Jeff could go.

I just noticed on the Encore's web site schedule that they have an open boat the day of the 4th. Maybe we all could get together for the day dive and those that can stay on...stay on for the rest of the weekend. I don't know how much the Encore charges for the day dive but the rest of the weekend is $290 thru my shop.

Hi Brandon

Here is a link to California Dive Boats....just look for Long Beach or San Pedro in the location. http://californiadiveboats.com/ It gives you a link to the dive boats to check schedules. Also for those boats that advertise in California Diving News, you can check www.saintbrendan.com and look for the date you want and it gives you the phone number of who has the charter or if it is an open boat.

Seems like alot of AZ folks will be diving CA that weekend!
