Has anyone used the Sherwood Oasis regulator? How well does it retain moisture? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanx

Travis,

I been using the Oasis for a little while now and I had never had a problem with dry mouth. The bad news to this is that I really don't have anything else to copare it to.

A better example might be my sister who was recently certified and she had a real problem with dry mouth during her certification. She actually ended up going with the Sherwood Maximus which is also design to retain moisture, and she has not had that problem since.

Hope this helps a little.

A very simple system, the oasis has a metal plate in the air chamber of the second stage that is cooled by the incoming dry air from the tank - when you exhale, the moisture from your breath condenses on the plate. Then, with the next breath, that moisture evaporates and humidifies the air you breath in, which also cools the plate again and the process repeats with each breath. Simple, and it works.

I used one during my confined water part of my O/W cert. I'd recommend it. No dry mouth for me.

Which is basically the cold water version of the Oasis. Been using it since 91 & love it. I've also used the Sherwood Brut & some USD regs... always prefer my Blizzard because I don't get such a dry mouth & throat after diving.

I esp find it useful with the drying effect of the extra O2 in Nitrox.

Been using my Blizzard for 2 years and like it a lot. Easy breathing when properly set up. Good upside down which I'm told can be a problem with some sets. I have to admit that I've had dry mouth a few times but in all fairness it was in stressful situations. New dives, first real cavern, first deeper wreck, sharks etc.
A couple of DM's in Mexico have commented on what a great choice it is. Go for it.

I use a Sherwood Oasis and love it...never any dry mouth with it here...it's also light weight in my mouth so it doesn't wear my jaws out.. I think it's reasonably priced too....

Just my .02...
