Just purchased a D9 and am happy with its performance. Does the backlight only work when there is a violation / alarm? Can I light it up to check the time when not diving, or light it up when diving to check stats?? Thanks

Yep, just press and hold the Mode button (the top-right-hand button). The backlight will then come on. Let the button go and it will stay on for 'x' amount of seconds (depends what it is set on). The Stinger and D6 are exactly the same.
