Hi everybody. My wife and I are divers and we have two boys (10, 13). We'd like to do a dive/snorkel vacation. We were thinking of Fantasy Island, Roatan, but don't know anybody who has been there. Anybody out there done the family thing at Fantasy Island? Comments? Good, bad or otherwise? We've heard the Sand fleas are bad there.
Also, we'd like to find a place where the kids can be with us most of the time snorkeling and stuff. We've had bad experiences in the past with 'SuperClub' kids programs that really amount to a darkened room full of video games. Hate that stuff.
Anyway, we'd appreciate any info anyone can send our way regarding Fantasy Island or any other destination you and your kids loved.
Thanks
Neil

Well i wont be able to give you any info, on the vacation side. I spent my time in cave country. I dont have any kids, yet (thank god )..... hmm. Oh anyways, they have plenty of info, here. To atleast help you out some.

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

I'll second Scott's suggestions. You'll be able to find lots of info if you post your question in those forums. I know that a lot of people on the board have been there. I'll get there some day!

Don't forget to fill out your profile and dive info, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Hi there! My name is Kayla, and I have been diving for over two years now! I think that you will be able to learn a lot here at ScubaBoard, and hopefully you will be able to post about some of your experiences as well. If you have any questions, please PM me. Otherwise, I hope to get to know you better around the boards!

Safe diving!

Not sure where you are coming from but I took my two teen sons to the Maldives (South of India) last year and it was absolutely royal. There are 85 separate islands that are each a resort unto themselves. The snorlking was fantastic and we even saw a four foot white tip one afternoon snorkling off the beach. Each afternoon the cooks bring junks of fish out to the cove and let the kids feed small reef sharks and small rays. The fish there were as plentiful as you could imagine and everywhere there was something new.

I dove and saw four giant manta rays up close and personal at a cleaning station and sharks and and and. US Dollars are used as the local currency so its a bit pricey but very lovely diving and a vacation of a lifetime.

We stayed on the Island of Bandos but I could not recommend the it as the dive operator was not the best. I had to argue to get them to go out to the good dive sites.

:D Welcome to Scuba Board! It’s a good place to know if you are into diving. I enjoy being here. There have been so many people that have offered advice regarding my dream. I hope your question gets answered too. Take care from Matt. :jump013:

Never been to Roatan, but welcome to the board,

Howdy!

I just want to join the others in welcoming you to SB. Hope to get to know you around the forums.

I like Fantasy Island, but it's not for kids. Anthony's Key can give you better service, and their kid program rocks.

Completing your Profile and seperately - keeping your Dive Info up to date helps in future diving instructions. PM me if I can help you learn your way around.
