Hi everyone,
I am new member of this forum and I am learning how to dive; today it was my 3rd dive and I was extremely nervous, not breathing coreectly and therefore having difficulty going down. It was a pretty frustrtaing dive eevn though I have managed to do it.
Is this normal or I am the only one having this trouble?
Thanks,
Francisco

Welcome to the 'board and SCUBA!!!!!!!!!

Yes, when we are nervous, it is natural for us to hold more air in our lungs..... I had the same problem on my third pool "dive" and had to get out, relax, and from then on no problem.

I know it's hard but breathe normal your inflating your lungs so much you'll need a ton to get you down ... your in good hands nothing is going to hurt you ... just listen copy your instructor as good as you can but remember the biggest thing here to slow down and have FUN thats why we dive!

Howdy and Welcome to SB.com!

Thank you everyone, this really seems to be a helpful communty. I also seem to be a bit nervous when I need to take out the mask and clear it while in the ocean.
In the pool, with or without the regulator I can do it very easily and with calmness, but in the sea it is a lot more dificult. I know it is exactly the same but is this a common problem too for beginners or am I just too anxious on this? Thankss

I suppose it's a natural reaction for some. Practice, practice, practice - but then don't become complacent. :thumb:
