FYI. Bought 2 Tektite 400LS lights http://www.tek-tite.com/src/product_info.php?id=2327because they were the right price, brightness, size and weight, and received at least one decent review. On its first use, one of the lights went out after about 35 min. Inspection afterward revealed that the LED bulb was locked in position by a black rim of something plastic and there were pinpoint spots randomly speckling about half the mirrored reflector. Could not get the bulb out with pliers, whereas the bulb in the undamaged light came out easily using fingers.

Sent the light back to Tektite, indicating (with sales receipt) that it was one of a pair. It was replaced completely and instantly. A note was attached indicating that there was now a heat sink around the base of the bulb. Sure enough, a small aluminum sleeve was in place, making contact with the metal flange on the bulb. Clearly, the original LED bulb had overheated and died (so much for the "100,000 hr lifetime" of LEDs).

In addition to the completely replaced light, Tektite included an additional lamp module (bulbs, reflector, contact base) for the other light. I thank Tektite for the very rapid turnaround and for taking the extra step of providing new parts for the second light. It would have created worry to know tha one light had the "fix" and the other did not.
