Greetings all. The Central Iowa Underwater S/R Team has aquired a "C-Series Flat Top 101" trailer. It is basically an empty trailer that we can configure any way we want. We would be greatful for any recommendations and/or plans for existing trailers of similar size.
Basic specs:
101" Wide x 26' (22' + 4' dove) Long; 82" walls
Back drops (for putting your toys in...like 4-wheelers, etc); one access door on passenger side near front; no windows; no power outlets.

Concept: C2 center in front (comms, countertops, whiteboards, computer, etc); gear storage/prep area in back.
Tongue is not long enough to mount generator, so we intend on storing it in the trailer during movement and dismounting it during operations.

Thank you in advance for any information you can supply!

Sounds about the size of ours, Larry.

I'm not sure about keeping the generator inside the trailer - fuel vapours and dive gear (latex, neoprene etc) won't be too friendly. We've mounted a small honda on the tounge and it works well. If you have a bigger gen maybe mount/keep in the tow vehicle?

Careful how you outfit - its real easy to overload. We've got all the spare bottles aft of the wheels to balance out the weight better.

A bench across the front with 2 prerigged units and one on the side.

Make sure you insulate it!

Thanks, Senior Bridgediver! We'll surely keep those things in mind. Looking at a full spray-down of insulation.
I may have mis-written the concept of the generator: it will not be used inside the trailer, we will move it outside prior to operating. Probably around the opposite wall (for noise and fume protection) and plug in to an outside mounted box.

If you have any pictures or schematics of how yours is set up, I'd greatly appreciate it!

We often times haul one of our portable gas generators in our dive van, Make sure your gas cap has a closable vent. This keeps the fumes out. We also carry extra fuel with the same concept. We recently redid our van, and put shelving and the single idea that has helped improve all areas of operation are the use of small boxes inside the shelves. We store comm rope in one, aga's in another, comm equip in another, dry suit access (gloves, underwear...etc) in another and it makes it easy for a diver to suit up in the back, and for shore responders to just pull whole tubs for each aspect of the operation. REALLY NICE.... oh and we put diver used items (dry suit undearwear, gloves, etc) toward the dressing area, and scene equipment toward the front away from the dressing area so that shore responders don't trample the divers as they haul gear to and from...
