GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C - An SUV crashed into a guardrail, then flipped into a river late Tuesday night, killing the driver, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The Greenville County Coroner's office said 16-year-old Victoria Humphries of Taylors died in the wreck. She was a rising junior at Greer Middle College.
The coroner's office said Humphries died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
The wreck occurred just after 11 p.m. on Highway 14 at River Road north of Greer, next to Lake View Steak House in Greenville County.
Humphries was driving a white 1994 Jeep Cherokee and was heading west on Highway 14 when the SUV ran off the left side of the road, according to troopers.

Humphries was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, troopers said. A dive team was able to recover the body, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

As a precaution, divers searched the water for more victims, but none was found.
