Aging 1st stage

I was looking at an MK25 on Amazon and could not lock down its "age". I have a copy of the 50th anniversary scubapro catalog and I can see that some models started in production in 2001 and are still in production today. Is there a guide to further narrow down when a 1st stage was produced or would I need to send in a serial number in order to obtain that information?

If you have the serial number then you can contact the manufacturer. SB members have a royal fk-tonne of knowledge but some things can be conflicting.

I'm not a MK25 expert but about the only thing I know to look for is if it has fins between the reg body and the ports it's probably 2009 or newer. Also polished chrome instead of matte since that was the same year. Or if it's an aluminum reg body, those were 2004-6 only.

I dive a 1972 MK5/R109, not forever yet, but pretty durable

If memory serves, there were three (3) different revisions to the Mk25 ... one of them was recalled by ScubaPro, so I'd definitely try to get it tracked down.

Your LDS who can do a rebuild on it will probably figure all of that out if you take it in for a service.
