Anyone know of some first hand experience of some shore dive that may be located in or near santa maria California. Also looking to get some info on what it's like to live there.

Scuba Shore Diving Site Listing for: California Mid, USA West
One of my favorite dives, the Morro Bay North T-Pier is a short drive north. I haven't dived any of the closer sites, but anywhere you can get in the water near the kelp beds should be great.

Santa Maria is the California Central Coast's wine country. It's pretty and easy living.
Along with Morro Bay, Pismo Beach is also close by for shore diving.
