Hit Catalina last 2 weekends with an OW class.

Dived off the Steps at the Casino. Both days the vis was pretty good. 50-60. Temps the first weekend were 72ish at the top and 68 at about 35. This weekend they where 75 or so at the top, and about the same at 60. No thermocline to speak of.

8/2 the wall around the parking area was packed. Not sure how many divers but a lot of the wall was shoulder to shoulder. 8/9 pretty relaxed. No where near as many divers.

All in all, great weekends for an open water class.

Had 73 F as my MINIMUM temperature on last night's dive to a max depth of 52 fsw.

Nice dives! makes me want to take the ferry for a couple of days.

We will be there in Aug 26-28. I hope the water and visibility is good. Diving w Catalina Diver for a boat dive on Aug27 and Aug 28 with Scuba Luv at Casino point for a guided two tanks so we catch the ferry on time. I took my navigation class in May, so I hope i don't get lost diving from a boat w no guide! I have 80 dives and my buddy has 30, both of us certified on Sep 2013 as SSI. My buddy is an air hog, so I'm sure we will be up on the surface at the 45 mins marked. I should get nitrox since I'm certified, but my buddy isn't. But, it might be a waste...

Hope it stays that warm over this weekend...I'm heading out to Catalina on Pacific Star with the Bluewater Photo folks to shoot GSBs. I really dislike wearing a hood, and it sounds like it's still warm enough to go hoodless, so...yay!
