I have trip planned to take the express ferry over to Catalina this Saturday. The person that was originally going with me is cancelling due to a last minute business trip. It's my first time there, so I was thinking about hiring one of the local guides at the dive shops for the tour in the park. I'd like to do a few dives that day if anyone else is interested in connecting. Please feel free to post/PM.

I would definitely consider hiring a guide from Catalina Divers Supply, Scuba Luv or Dive Catalina. Although Casino Point is a pretty safe place to dive, I don't think you are ready for solo given the number of dives. You may be able to pick up a buddy there, but better to make firm arrangements ahead of time. I generally don't dive during the day this time of year and focus on night diving to avoid the crowds of poorly supervised snorkelers.

Thanks, DrBill. I'm definitely not considering solo dives. I was planning on doing a guided tour in the morning and if I could find a dive buddy to do an additional dive or two, I'd consider that after the guided tour.
