Last Thursday I was working from home.. and the Fedex guy shows up.. Having ordered a couple of items (but being delivered by UPS) I was not sure what was happening...

My wife comes in the living room and hands me a box... After I open it I find a waterproof housing for a Canon A610.. :D

A couple of hours later, the UPS guy shows up with the camera!! :D :D

My first camera was a Sea Life with limited buttons, could only use the "auto" modes...and flooded last August.

Now I have full control of the camera.. where to begin..

I have read about setting the white balance, f stop, and shutter speed manually.

Main question.. Once I set the white balance, where should I start with setting the f stop and shutter? Use flash for close shots, no flash for further away (out of flash range)?

I have played around with settings above water, I am looking for a good starting point below..

Any and all suggestions welcome!
