I'm new to UW video. It seems that a good digital camera and a housing would be great. I'm on a budget of about $2500 for camera and housing. Any recommendations on which camera to use, which housing, and reasons would be very very appreciated.
Budget may be a little flexible, but not more than $3000.
I was thinking of using 18 watt HID and a 10 Watt HID for lighting. Any pros and cons on this would be great.

I recommend a Sony digital camcorder. Their camcorders will give you the most options when it comes to selecting a housing.
Things to consider: 1 chip vs. 3 chip camcorders, electronic vs. manual controls.
I suggest you hold off on the lights for 6 months to a year after buying your housing. You will have enough to learn and worry about without throwing lights into the equation.
