I am looking to buy a strobe a part of the safety kit. Ive looked at the P/Tec Aqua Strobe but have read some not so favourable reviews. The ACR strobes look pretty good although most arent depth rated high enough, the firefly plus looks ok. Can any one recommend a strobe. Pref lithium batteries. Cheers. And if this thread has been done before can you advise title as I cannot find on this board. Thanks.

Ive also looked at the jotron but its pretty big and uses a c cell.

The new Glo-Toob Lithium is (finally) out:

Glo-Toob | The High Intensity, Multipurpose, Waterproof Lightsource!

Turn the sound on your computer down - they insist on blasting stupid music ...

These are supposedly quite sturdy and can be programmed for various steady/flash/pulse settings. Looong run time too.

I read that someone here uses the triangular "anti-roll" accessory on his/hers to keep the light from banging on the tank and improve visibility of the light further.

thanks for the info. any ideas what the max viz would be using a glo-toob? The Princeton Tec Aqua strobe is apparently visible up to 2 miles on a clear night ditto the ACR Firefly, the Jotron AQ4 is rated to up 6 miles.

The Glo-Tube and the Lazer-Stik are not suitable for emergency location, way too dim

Perhaps not, but they would be great as tank lights for night dives.

However, at $40 per Glo-Toob Lithium, street price that's a passel of cyalume tubes!

Weeeellll...seing as the OP pointed toward this strobe, which I see used in place of the cyalume tubes, that's exactly what I assumed the OP meant.

Perhaps the OP can enlighten us as to the purpose or use of the strobe for his "safety kit"?
