Belize Photo's

Photo's taken with Canon 20D, Ikelite Housing & DS125 strobe (on macro's) during recent Belize dive trip.

Wide Angle photo's using Canon EF 16-35mm L USM and an 8" Ikelite dome port - no strobes.

Most Macro's with Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM - Ikelite flat port - single DS125 strobe.

Night macro's with Quantaray Tech 10 50mm 1:2.8 and single DS125 Strobe.

Cheers,

Awsome pics!!! How do you like your DS125 strobe?

Great photos, Monty! Where were you in Belize?

My wife and I are going to Belize next month (5-year anniversary), spending a week on Turneffe Atoll and plan on doing quite a bit of diving there. Most people seem to write about the corals, so it's great to see some cool critters there too...

Cheers!

I was on a live-aboard dive boat - Nekton Pilot, Dec 8-15. We did dive off Turneffe one day - I think all of the outer atoll reefs are similar in that they are walls with prolific coral, sponge and marine life..

Cheers,

I like it with a fully charged battery attached to my Ikelite housing in 50-70 feet
of water - but then you knew that huh? :D

I have two DS 125's and I rarely use them both. The ettl compatability with the 20D and Ikelite housing makes for a sweet setup - technically speaking. In reality I only use the strobe when shooting macro, or of course shooting at night - during which I generally use a 50mm macro lens due to its versatility. I do on occasion use both strobes at night, but that's about it. The DS125 is a pwerful strobe with a cycle time that matches the speed of my 20D for 3-4 frames - which is very nice.

In my opinion a down side to the DS125 is its size and weight. When using both strobes they are very negative and will over time through the dive wear on your forearms (fatigue). When using a single strobe and poisitioning it centered over the housing for macro shots this is not a problem. But that's about it.

Of course Ikelite stand behind it's products 100%. I have had one bulb burn out and I have had the plastic catch that the battery latches onto break - both issues were dealt with very quickly - no questions asked..

Cool. I am about to get this strobe and ikelite housing for my Canon 5d. I can't wait to get it all together and get wet. Nice images on your site too!!! You do nice work. Cheers and Happy New Year!

Very, very nice shots Monty.

Hi Monty,

Just out of curiosity, what sort of depth did you do most of the diving in? I'm looking for a filter solution, and one that seems particularly inexpensive and easy to use with good results is limited to about 50-60 feet...

Thanks!
Bryan
