Does anyone know if Lake Denton is still open to Divers? A Couple of us are coming to Florida next month and the Dive Instructon coming with us has hopes of going there to do check outs for a couple new students.

I had heard at the end of the summer that someone had fenced off the entire lake and is no longer available. I know there is a shop on hwy 27 and I would think they would have more and accurate info. Not sure of the shops name.

Would it be helpful if a lake were opened up to divers that was about 60 miles south of Denton and had a depth of approximately 60' during the summer months, 53' in the winter???

Is there a lake open 60 miles south? We are looking for a spot to do check out dives in Florida. Some of the divers who will be traveling with us said their checkouts were done at Lake Denton. Since it seems to be unavaiable can you suggest a good spot for check outs.

You should try Weeki Wachee Springs. They are open to divers and the water is Crystal Clear. You should get a hold of them. Any of the springs to the north of Tampa would be good for checkouts. You could do Hudson Grotto for that matter. You would just need to stay shallow.
