I have a UK C8 (Xenon) as my primary, and a PT impact XL (LED) as a backup. I just got a UK SL4 (Xenon) as a beefier backup. Depending on the conditions, I might still bring the XL in a BC pocket. It's also useful for shining under small ledges on daylight dives.

That uses CR123 batteries.

It does indeed. It'd be a deal-breaker for me if I weren't able to get these batteries *much* cheaper online than in stores.

I think Edd at Cave Adventurers in Marianna sells the Intowa batteries 2 for $8. Check with Edd on that one.

Wow that is cheap.... as long as the expiration dates are still good. :eyebrow:

Well - yes ... there's that

Battery Junction (first link) is one of the online retailers I've seen recommended on flashlight enthusiasts sites. These enthusiasts are way deep into all sorts of testing and comparison, and if anything like that had ever been the case, it would have been all over Candlepower Forums. So, without any personal testing, I'd say they should be ok.

There are even tests out there that show the low priced Titanium batteries work just as well as the higher priced ones:

Ultimate backup:

Tillytec w30 runs with trhee AA batteries for 3 to 5 hours on max power. More than 300 lumens with one led backup. yep, 300 lumens. Tried it myself and it's more bright than a barbolight U-15 older version (4leds luxeon III) wich was more bright than my 10 watt hid custom divers.

Check also the cable light led 500 from tillytec. Compatible with the green force system and damn brighter than a 10 watt Hid. Tested it myself. Was impressed with the tight beam that cuts into the murky water.

You should take a look at the Photon Torpedo. Depending on the type of diving you are doing, this makes an excellent primary or backup light. The LED that they are using is producing an amazing amount of light. This came highly recommended from the tech/cave diving community.

You should check out our SLX if you're looking to do something more advanced. It's got all the features of a canister light at a fraction of the price:

If price is a concern you can check out our demo units too.

I just received my LED photon torpedo from Chuck yesterday. I bought it after some of my local cave/tech divers told me about it. I decided to do a quick comparison for you guys. My LED photon torpedo is on the left, and my UK C8 eled plus on a 220 lumen setting (high setting) is on the right (I hope this photo posts properly).

I think I might have a UK C8 eled plus for sale soon, and the photon torpedo cost half of what I spent on the UK.
