If you had a Seacure mouthpiece, would you really, really want to have that donated to you? I don't have a choice but use the seacure, as none of the many other mouthpieces I've tried worked, especially if I were to do more than 5 dives in a week.

So, do you object to having a Seacure given to you during share air drill? I've offered it when we demonstrated in the pool, and thus far, no one wants my seacure primary!!

What does DIR say about Seacure?

No, I don't object to it, though I'd rather a regular mouthpiece. I used a secure for a while and took it off even before I started practicing primary donation.

I had to use my wife's 2nd stage (with seacure) once in a semi-emergency situation, and at that point, I could care less that it was slightly uncomfortable. It worked just fine.

I wouldn't want to do an hour dive with her 2nd, but then again... Why would I?

Lets see......breathing from sea-cure or no breathing? I'll take the sea-cure every time. During the one OOA event I was involved in, I can tell you that the style of mouthpiece was the least of the OOA person's concerns. He gladly took mine. Of course, then I had to use the funky plain old mouthpiece on my octo...........

You got that right! If I'm OOA, I really don't care if the mouthpiece is an old dog's chew toy or used oil filter. If that sucka delivers air when I'm out, I'm hitting it like a bong!:D
(edit: Uh, I just read about bongs, don't really know anything about them.)

Give them time, I bet they will rethink that especially when you get them out of the pool in the open water. If not, I would say those who dont take it are good candidates to fail your class.

I have a seacure on my longhose. No problem, I just check with my (insta)buddy that (s)he can use it.

I agree. Although in practice it may seem strange. In a real life out of air situation, i would not even think about it. In an out of air situation people would probably be willing to breath directly off your lips.

I have a different rule and those who dive with me can accept it or dive with someone else. You can grab my secondary second stage or my pony reg either one without asking - and I do keep my on in the water, I will understand and we will cooperate with a standard OOA sequence. Do Not grab the Manta in my mouth as it ain't coming out! Take the easy ones.

I know that more experienced divers than I teach donating primary, but I object on other reasons: Then you have two divers with no regs in their mouth until the problem is solved.

What would I do if the diver did grab the Manta reg out of my mouth? I'd grab my pony reg or my secondary for the OOA until I got back to the boat with the diver - then chew his butt out for putting me at risk. I hope he knows how to insert a Manta mouthpiece.

Interesting subject.I have never thought about it because Ive never had one or breathed through one.If I needed air it wouldnt be an issue.Ive seen them in dive shops but never had a hankerin to get one.
