So with TS Fay coming in right now, will this stir up the fossil beds (in a good Way)? Looks like the main landfall area will be around Naples/Bonita Springs area?

The way the storm is coming in the strong winds will be on the opposite side of the beach(more inland). That will make the winds come off of the shore. It won't move as much sand as it would have it made landfall somewhere around Tampa or further north but I'm sure it will be enough to move quite a bit of sand and bring new things to the surface.

As long as it uncovers a few more megs I will be happy, that is if I can find them.

how long will it take the viz to settle down or get to normal (whatever that is).

Aristakat posted in the main Florida Conch forum under Venice Waters that he went by the beach to take a look & some pics. He said it didn't look good. We've had pretty close to 2 weeks now of west winds. I've gotta feeling that it's gonna be a while before it clears.

Can anybody give an estimate of the distance from the end of Alhambra to the water's edge? We have some gimpy and wimpy divers that would like to do this dive, but may not be able to handle this trek, all geared up.

Hmmmmmmm...................I'm not real good at distances & it all depends on where you park but, I would say from the curb at the beach access, maybe 100 yds. Anyone feel free to correct me on that. Might be less. I'm a little old lady with lousy knees & I can make the walk. My problem is making the step up out of the water at the end of the dive.
