I am trying to prepare myself for doubles and an intro Cave course. One of the trim issues I am having relates to my legs being heavy. I have pushed my tank as high as I can ,and I still have some trim issues.

I am using Scuba Pro Jet Fins, XL. As most of you know they are extremely heavy. Has anyone switched from Jets and solved a heavy feet problem? If so, what type of fins did you switch too. I love the performance of my Jets...but the weight seems to be a problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

OMS Slipstreams are similarly sized, but more or less neutral in the water. The other ones that come to mind are the Dive Rites, which are also available in smaller sizes for those who need them.

I had the same problem with my Jets. I loved them but just couldn't get trimmed out. I finally moved to OMS slipstreams. It's virtually the same fin as the Jet but significantly lighter.

Oooohhh.....I'm having the SAME problem. I also have the jetfins. And I've tried moving the weight as high as possible also, with no relief. I think my buddies are getting sick of all the silting because of my trim issues...LOL! One of my buddies have the Slipstreams and I am probably going to switch also. They are certainly reasonably priced!

If anyone else has had any luck correcting trim issues with the Slipstreams, please share!

You just can't beat Dive-Rites for cave or wreck! For camera and video they are the best and I have tried just about every fin on the market!

solution is not in the weight of the fins itself. The solution is to pull your legs in more and trim out further. If you pull your legs in ( sharper bend at the knees/ bottom part of the legs closer to your butt) you can manipulate your trim. Also remember to push your pelvis down and arch you back to attain proper trim. It will take some time to get this down to a second nature. Try that first before buying replacing equipment.

Same problem for me and OMS Slipstreams solved the problem. Obviously do not use the "spring straps".

As for me it is better to operate with lighter fins due to possible fatigue of your legs in contrast with heavy Jets. OMS Slipstream are little negative, trim problems is possible to solve by training and also moving a weight. But when a diver has his tank as highest as possible and this problem still persists, I think this problem can be caused by too heavy fins. Maybe you can try to take some light weight to your hands during a dive and then try how that influes your trim. To create such an opposite weight to your fins.

Dare I be flamed, but be careful arching your back. There was a recent article in Alert Diver about serious back ailments to divers who arch their backs.

Are you currently diving a drysuit and doubles? I'm not sure whether you are or not. I am leg heavy and still need the weight of the Jets to trim me correctly when diving my drysuit. Jets are perfect for my drysuit diving. If you are in a drysuit already and still foot heavy, I suggest the OMS Slipstreams. I am foot heavy with my Jets when diving a wetsuit or shorty, so on a friends advise, I changed to Slipstreams when diving a wetsuit and they balance me perfectly. Slips are currently avaible in XL and XXL sizes. OMS says M and L will be avaible in March... :palmtree: Bob
