What will those nuts at PETA think up next?
Their latest campaign which is currently debuting in North Carolina and later the rest of the country hopes to associate fish with kittens. Their logic: that nobody would kill a household animal like a dog or cat, so calling them "sea kittens" makes it so. So make sure to keep those sea kittens off the tip of your pole spear.

When I first heard about this I thought it was a scam, truth is stranger than fiction I guess

Not everyone agrees that you have a right to torture a living animal by spearing it with an arrow and then dragging it around until it eventually dies.

Yes, I am a vegan and not a hypocrite.

Hunters are some of the biggest environmentalists.

I have no problem with you being a vegan, but don't force that lifestyle onto others.

Who is trying to force anything other than the OP when he referred to them as "nuts"? I just pointed out that there is another side to consider. Think before you speak....

Yes, I am a vegan and not a hypocrite.

But everybody does agree that you have the right to feed you and your family with any means necessary.

But that's beside the point really, I was speaking more toward the fact that this campaign in particular is ridiculous. They are simply trying to manipulate children with misinformation...and that's just kinda sad. I mean some of the best memories I had of my childhood were "torturing" "sea kittens" with my dad and grandad. It saddens me to think that children might be stripped of that in the future, but I sincerely doubt this will make that will happen.

Whoa! I'm not forcing anything on anybody. This is how a discussion forum works...someone mentions a topic and discusses it with others. As far as OPs go I think mine was pretty neutral. I simply posted a link to these Wako's site. I never suggested anybody should or should not do anything.

Wow, no need for this to get into a heated argument. Also, no one called you a hypocrite so I don't know why you threw that into the last post.

I understand there are people against spearfishing, and it's good from time to time to remember exactly why I disagree with those people.

However, responsible hunting (both above and below water) policies don't harm the ecosystem, so I don't see anything wrong with it. You disagree, fine.

edit: btw, I'm thinking quite fine

the OP has a valid arguement. THEY ARE NUTS!

A few months ago, a PETA member petitioned Ben and Jerry's to cease the use of cows milk in the manufacture of their ice cream. The alternative that was suggested? HUMAN BREAST MILK.

That be nuts.

I stated that I am not a hypocrite as the usual response would be to ask if I eat hamburgers or have a leather jacket and equate that as being hypocritical.

The point is that I just stated that not everyone agrees that the people at PETA are nuts. I did not try to force anything on anyone.

It is difficult for me to understand how a person who could not bear to see a person injured in any way could put a metal hook through an animals head as a pastime.
