We got in a most relaxing dive today. Who needs good viz to play with the fishes anyway?

We found the most inquisitive octopus. I just put my hand on the rock in front of him and waited. He reached out to feel my glove... played with my hand and let me tickle him! When he started to lock on I thought he might try to pull my hand under the ledge or have a nibble with his beak so I broke off our interaction. I don't like to scare, chase or interfere with the critters it is nice when they chose to interact tho!

Here are some pics of my little friend. He changed his eye colour as well as his overall colour. I like the shot that shows the jellylike protrusion of his eye. In one shot you can see he is covering part of my gloved fingers... I wasn't game to take my gloves off!

Wow - thats way cool: shaking hands with an occy. I'm suitably jealous! Where were you diving?

[Hijack]
BTW: I remember someone posting a passing comment last year about a good Oz website/shop to source tanks - but I can't remember who it was or which shop.

Any one have any recommendations for a good tank pimp that still has fabers in stock?

Cheers,
Rohan

Our usual spot... in Botany Bay... La Peruse

I am pretty sure AW posted something about where to get tanks... I would suggest you try checking with her. She's at Oztek this weekend tho

I had the day off work today so we headed out for some diving on Friday. I had to send my 50D back to Canon to get a small problem sorted out under warranty and have to use my backup 40D until I get the 50D back. We got two longish dives in and here are a few of my favourites from the photos I have processed so far:

We got another two dives in today (Saturday), I'll post some pictures from those dives soon.

I had a great dive at Nth. Solitary on Friday. All the usual suspects from clown triggers & octopi to logger heads & GNS. The most amazing part though , was the guitar sharks. They ranged from about 1mt to 2mt & there must have been dozens of them. They could be found from the nth. east corner of Anemone Bay down to the sth. west corner at Elbow cave. In years of diving the Solitaries I'v never seen anything like it.

They don't show any fabers on the site. Give them a ring or an email. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Got out for two yesterday - let's hope I don't kill this thread like I did the last one

There is a ton of food in the water and shooting conditions were tough due to all the floaties. On the upside, there are feeding frenzies happening everywhere along the sites and it's pretty intense to watch! the cods aren't shy and you can get pretty danged close :)

Even some of the more skittish fishes were a little braver

The reef is just going off with tons of creatures, feeding free-for-alls and of course, whale sharks every day! I gotta figure out how to get out more this week!

Nice to see your shots again Alcina! It was decided a while back that we would do Aussie threads.. first of the month to the 15th then 15th to end of month. Weekly seemed too short... monthly thread would get to long so this is easier so nope... you didn't kill the thread

Your shots don't show floaties... love the visuals!

Ahhh Anenomie Bay... good memories but didn't see any guitar sharks there in a number of trips... lucky devil!
