I never received any invitation. :depressed:
You know, Joyce, neither did I :-( And God knows, its not like we never post!

I think we should be offended - where's our PM's?!?

Guess just the cool Scubaboarders like Brian, Chip and Debby get the invite's.........

are you guys getting PM's??

yep. I got one also.

He said it was in response to my post about fort lauderdale diving..... but I haven't made a post about FTL diving. :shakehead:

almost seems like a scam as they offered that if I printed the PM that they would give me something like a 78% discount on boat dives. seems too good to be true. (or to desperate on their part.)

It actually does sound too good to be true, but a call to Pro Dive could confirm or deny it.

Personally, I make a lot of recommendations on here for a couple of favorite boats, so I found the PM to be target marketing, and I don't mean that in a negative way.

Humm.....neither did I, but at least I'm in good company:crafty:

Good Diving,
Neither did I, and ditto!

I'm also glad to be SPAMLESS! :D

I fear it will be short lived, though. We went to the IMAX film "Under The Sea" this weekend and in the "pre-ads" was an ad for a technical convention in Tampa... The "CoolTech Convention" at the Performing Arts Center...

I certainly hope they don't want me to "perform" at the convention... That would be very humiliating (But, of course... humiliating might be OK...) :rofl3:

btw... I didn't notice it at first, KBeck pointed out the ad to me... :shocked2:

With all your posts in the MOF, Change a letter, word association, stating the obvious, where have all the MOFers gone, and would you rather threads, they may have missed your contributions to the Conch section :D

I think it's legit. It's a one-time offer with a 20 day window to take advantage. And I think it's good marketing. I did 50+ boat trips last year and I've usually got between 5 and 15 people joining me. I'm sure they'll work hard to get our business, times are lean right now and they are just coming back after spending ~18 months out of the game.

I am interested in hearing about your dives if you do go with them. I used their boat a few years ago and all efforts were on the students they are pushing through and where they needed to go and not the additional divers on board. It was a very structured set up on when to get in and out of the water but it had taken all of the fun out of the experience.

I now use Capt. Todd with American Dream 2, just down the road at the pier 66.

Thanks,

jt

gumbo717-- BINGO that is exactly what I heard. They were a trust fund baby.. "Daddy I want to be a SCUBA Instructor Guy" place. Zero to Hero in the shortest time (and experience) as required.
Perhaps they are getting out of the Instructor Factory buisness and going to be a dive op??

As far as I know it is under new ownership. Y'all may recall that the original owners died in a tragic skiing accident. Their employees kept it going for many years, but it went under some time last year (you could search SBB for the backstory). My guess is that this is a new owner. Does anyone know for sure?

So far as the boat, from an instructor's point of view, it is awesome. I took hundreds of students out on that boat and its predecessor back in the day. I don't believe I've ever dived from it recreationally, though because they really did cater to instructors and students.
