Where's the pics? I can wait. Who did you use for the tour? kev

No need to go to Holbox! One hour north of Isla Mujeras and the water is literally teeming with them. No joke! It was the most surreal thing I have ever witnessed.

Mary
Shush up, Mary. I love that little Isla and is quite overdeveloped enough as it is. Don't tell ANYONE about Isla Mujeres or that they can go there for whaleshark trips. :blinking:

This year has been a little different for the whale shark tour since they have been spotted further east than usual. So much so that some of the operators that traditionally go out of holbox have been going out of Punta Sam. From Playa that now means an hour drive instead of 3 hour drive!!!! YAY!! They were pretty spotty throughout June though and now all of a sudden they are out full-force. Great time to come down and visit!!!

One of these days, I ought to poke my head out of the caves and take a day trip to swim with the whale sharks. It looks amazing!

better than us - two years ago, first week of september and not a single one. might have been because of hurricane dean. in any event, last year we saw dozens in the first week of august. we'll be back in three weeks. we always go out of punta sam which is in cancun so you do not even have to go to isla mujeres. Ben at mayan aqua dive has been arranging our trips and i can highly recommend him.
