After having the pleasure of swimming with them for a week and helping with their conservation, I cannot imagine destroying such a beautiful creature. We have to keep educating and fighting the good fight!

Terrible as it is, we also need to educate our own developed countries in the West as they have been responsible for the decimation of many fisheries. When people are hungry, they take what they can to survive. We, on the other hand, take to excess and often waste much of our catch.

Sad to see, but I could not agree with Dr. Bill anymore as to the activities of our so much more "enlightened western attitudes" regarding waste.
I guess I do not know, is whale shark commonly consumed in Asia?

I do not neccessarily sit in judgement of these folks if the harvest is sustainable and ordinary.

I tried turtle meat only one time in my life. I was working in the Turks & Caicos and it was served by the clients' wife for dinner.
I tried it, it was like a cheap brisket, and have not touched it again for 19 years.
It was common to them, and they really tried to roll olut the red carpet for us guys from trhe US.
