Notice how they power up and steer away from the whaler-NOT. The speedy, maneuverable boat powers up and heads to the bow, whether to cross the bow and drag a rope or harass the ship.

They are trying to portray themselves as victims, they are not victims, they are just incompetent, if they were trying to avoid a collision.

They are very good if their goal was to provide exciting television footage and not get anyone hurt.

In an environmental activist handbook a few years ago Watson proclaims there is nothing wrong with lying to protect the environment. I think the speaker read it and took it to heart.

It's all about media manipulation. PETA does the same thing, they come up with all these outrageous proclamations and the media swarms over it.

The "Ady Gil" cannot turn on a dime. If the Shonan Maru had turned a little more
to starboard, they would have killed these guys. I really don't think they would
have put themselves right under the bow on purpose, it would be
entirely too dangerous to life and property. I'm not saying Sea Shepherd
is totally innocent, but this was preventable from the "Shonan Maru".

Do you not see the prop wash where the IDIOTS are actually powering into the whaler

because these guys don't do stupid and dangerous things any other time . . .

Do you have any idea of the turning circle of a large fishing vessel, or the amount of course deviation from strong waves? The accounts from all the captains who have actually piloted these vessels clearly say the course deviations are unlikely to be responces to helm commands:

An example here

PPRuNe Forums - View Single Post - Sea Shepherd

A ship her size can't be thrown around like a sports boat, she's too big and she doesn't have the power. Talking about her course changes is just BS if you don't know the helm input. She doesn't react immediately to inputs like a car and the yawing motions from the swell will, even on a steady course, make the bow swerve several meters from port to starboard.
How many of you have stood behind the helm of a whaler? I have, on the MV Senja belonging to the Norwegian Coast Guard, or fishery inspection as it was then. I have also whirled the wheel on old 150 foot steam trawlers. Even on small ships like that course changes takes time, and the ship will gear during the operation. Turning hard port might as well have led to the stern of the whaler broadsiding the pirates.
The Ady Gil had no business playing around the whaler. End of story.
Now back to your speculations on angles and right of way.

Depends if you can believe a word Paul Watson says.

“Paul Watson just said on ABC News Breakfast Australia that the Ady Gil has sunk, they (not sure which ship) had been towing her for 6-7 hours towards the French base but the weather picked up, she took on water and sunk. He confirmed that all fuel and oil had been taken off the vessel.”

I've lightered vessels. I've salvaged vessels. I've been involved with getting vessels ready for reefing. Unless he had a full crew onboard, with steam pressure washers and a ton of rags, the fuel and oil were not off the vessel. Maybe the majority was, maybe even a lot of it was, but I'd like to see the transfer logs for myself.

I reviewed the video's some more, and watched the interviews, and was willing, just barely, to give some benefit of doubt to SS, but this latest, to say they had removed the fuel and oil in heavy weather removes all doubt. Paul Watson will say anything for his cause.

He is so full of it. The statements made by the man (Paul watson) are worthless. You are worth your word!
