14,000 rooms !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! i must have not been counting correct, i have stayed at the Den Laman next door to the Sanddollar 3tims and i did not count that many rooms.. I guess we all like to exagerate the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Den Laman, has state of the arts everything. The dive shop is good, the hrs suck. Just put tanks in your truck of nitrox, since it is free, and put some in the free outdoor lockers. Carry your stuff to the room in your mesh gear bags. The satirs need to have chaep slip runners put on the,, but that is to much effort i guess on the resorts behalf. When you book a room, try to get one with Ocean view not a side view, you will be bery Happy!!! Third floor has awesome 1 bedroom;s qwith a view. LOL

Uhhm yeh. I doubt there are 14,000 rooms on the island. Of course it was exagerated. If you thought the few rooms from Den laman were catered to by the dive shop and peir it would be a rude awakening (as it was to us) that the small locker area and dive peir were shared with a much, much larger resort (Sand Dollar). Again, our only previous experience had been Belmar with its private house reef and peir. No Hours of operation. A gated and gaurded complex where, in our ground level room we could strip off our gear or gear up on the patio and walk to the dive stairs. It was simply muck easier and with little or no rules about the diving. It is this freedom and lack of schedule that brought us back to Bonaire.

I saw nothing wrong with the Dive Shop at Den Laman (other than hours, but we already now how to deal with that). What other types of services do you want? The only time I deal with the shop is to pick up my tanks, and there were always tons of tanks waiting to be taken.

I don't like they way they do their boat diving (assemble gear when moored at the site while the boat is bouncing around), but we know how to deal with that: shore dive only.

We've never had a problem with the gear locker hours because we're lazy and sleep in. After all, if we wanted to get up early and dive, we could go dive somewhere where they have dive schedules, like anywhere else in the world.

gotcha, I never did a boat dive -

We planned to do several early morning dives, but I think only once did we actually dive before the shop was open.

We usually leave for our first dive between 7-7:30am and get 3 dives in before lunch. Then again, we're usually in bed and asleep by 9:30pm!! <LOL>

Assemble gear before you get on boat, they will let you. Do you think Waldo cares if you put your wing or bc together on the dock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for the input! I'm very much looking forward to getting out of this snow covered hell and heading south to Bonaire tomorrow! I'll be sure to do a trip report of sorts when I get back.:cool2:

Hope you can make it out.
We were left flightless in Miami on our return trip.

Darcey: Based on your comment about the snow and hell, perhaps you should change your tag line. Do you really want to take snow to Bonaire with you????
