I see your one of the moderators so I'm sending this to you. I hope it's not to much out of line of where it should be sent.
I wish I new exactly where to post this, but since I don't here goes. I received a friend request on my personal email asking for a friend acceptance from a member of scubaboard. When I went to the person I wasn't impressed by his shall we say "less than honest representation of his motives or humor." Calls himself Hockeynut. Could have just let it go, but a *** is nothing but a donkey with longer ears-and absolutely nothing else. He's had a lot of visits and probably cuz no woman bothered to do anything, but roll their eyes and leave pronto. If this isn't considered rude or harassing I apologize for what may be construed as having sensitive skin. Thanks for your time! :eek:fftopic:

Maybe you should go ahead and take a look at the Terms of Service. Requesting friendship is not a TOS violation, it's not harassment, and it's certainly not rude. Most would consider a FRIEND request a FRIENDLY gesture. If you don't want to be social, then don't join a social scuba networking forum.

Also a little research on your side, would have revealed Hockeynut requests both male and female friends, so your statement about "women bothered to do anything, but roll their eyes and leaves pronto" leaves me :eek:hbrother: I'd say this is probably the most extreme case of thin skin I've ever seen.

You seem kinda uptight, maybe you need some more friends to help you chill out. Someone should send you a friend request.

Diver0001,

Thanks for the explaination. I have often wondered how moderation was handled. I looked for the thanks button on your post and didn't find it. Moderating is a thankless job so for the moment, I THANK YOU making it no longer a thankless job, for the moment.

I don't see this user as uptight. But more one who is unfamiliar with how forums work.

We were all there at one point, cut them some slack...

Also stargazer, I highly doubt Hockeynut had any ulterior motive friend requesting you, don't stress about it.

Yeah, I've noticed that too
... no thanks button for staff ?

I thought I had seen it before. Maybe if they are wearing their "moderator hat" the thanks button is not available?

Excellent post Rob, this question comes up from time to time, usually from people who feel they have been unfairly moderated.
I think this should be a sticky and may avoid hurt feelings from people who have had their posts deleted or edited

Diver0001 is currently taking some time away from the board to deal with some issues at work and personal life. At his request certain account settings have been removed during this time.
