Just booked my first ever trip to Cozumel! I'll be there Oct 30-Nov 5th, staying and diving with Blue Angel. I'm traveling solo so would love to meet up with people while down there.

Hi Mandyw. Diver Kat will put you on "the list" soon.:)
You will enjoy the BA.
Looks like we will overlap a few days during each of our stays.:cool3:
Looking forward to meeting you and diving.

I'm going to Mexico with my family, and they kept trying to convince me that I would be fine doing a day trip to Cozumel. They're non-divers, so they don't realize that one day in Coz just wouldn't be enough. Finally, I decided to just head there by myself before meeting up with them. Now it's the only part of the trip I'm really looking forwards to!

Blue steal - looking forwards to seeing you there. Maybe we can get out on some shore dives together. Any recommendations for dive times? Jeanie asked me to confirm them in advance so she can book them for me. I'm thinking of going on the morning dive daily, and then a couple twilight boat dives with shore dives the other afternoons/nights.

Hey Mandyw. Shore diving is okay right in front of the BA. Tanks are free and the entry/exits are easy. They have showers and the empty tank goes next to the dive shop if they are closed. There is a string ray pen next door to BA. I found there are quite a few critters around the pen to see and the depth is never more than 20'. Good way to check out your gear or the rental stuff.
For dive times, I would recommend the morning boats as they are fast, smaller, and carry anywhere from 2-6 divers. I believe we always left at 0800, did a 2 tank dive and back at the resort by lunch. They try to group people according to skill level, so the first day you are watched. The afternoon boat is much larger and I never went on it as it was Discover scuba folks, or beginners, so shallow spots and maybe shorter Bottom times.
I believe the policy for twilight and night dives are that they need at least 3, or maybe 4 people signed up to go out.
Jeanie likes to have people booked up ahead of time so she can put the right people on the right boats in the morning. I alway sign up for 3 or 4 dives, then just add the extra ones when I am there. No worry, even when I was thinking of taking a day off from diving, the dive shop would call me in the morning to see if I still wanted to go out, (how could I say no).
As with the afternoon dives, night shore dives are easy. I always saw someone out night diving and I tried it one night, it was fun, although not a whole lot to see as shore diving in general is no where as nice as the boat dives out at the reefs.
You will definately enjoy your stay there.:snorkel:

Thanks for the info Blue Steal. I'll let Jeanie know I'd like to be on the am boats. It's nice to know they're flexible about dives. I'll see you in October. Keep an eye out for the short asian gal. Cheers

Mandy

I's never too early to plan that next trip! We just booked our November trip this past Sunday. Used Orbitz as well, but we did the $200 off Fiesta Americana with a Hertz rental car for the week at just $505. We'll be there November 17th - 24th. Diving with Scuba with Alison (of course!!):D

LOL- I just found a deal for August..so I'm gonna beat ya there this time. I'll be thinking about you:cheers:
You sure you don't want to do the Cozumel in December thread???
