Jokes like this in the terminal can get you banned from the flight, or worse. Jokes about national security are NEVER amusing.

Anyone who takes that joke seriously on a forum and attempts to carry those items deserves to get banned.

And national security is a joke. I've forgotten things in my bags that are big "no no" items. I found them myself on the otherside.

Back to topic...

Do they let you take pony bottles in check-in?

There seems to be a pattern emerging.
I "carry-on": regs, computers, mask, camera equip.,along with a t-shirt, bathing suit.

Take yourself some money and some home mixed martini but no toothpicks for your olives.

The unnecessary disruption to person and world economy due the Wests pathetic attempt at international security is laughable and they are therefore they win.

I had my hose mounted dive knife on my regs which I carried on at Curacao, and it was missed there and when we went through security again in Miami. Scary stuff.

I've had no problems taking my 19 cf pony in my carryon, with the valve removed. They always pull my bag off the belt and ask me to come over while they open up my bag and go through it. And of course I'm subject to a full body strip search and anal probe but after the first few times it doesn't hurt as much and it takes some of the monotony out of traveling.

my question was regarding if the lower pressure in airplane compartments can damage the gauges, computer, etc. so I would take those onboard, as well as the expensive equipment.

I carry everything on board including bp/w. If the airline loses my clothes I'll be ok but I want to have my own dive gear.

You'll be ok without any clothes but what about the rest of us who have to ride back from the dive site with you after you remove your wetsuit?

My carry-on includes my laptop, camera equipment, canister light, dive computer, and (prescription) mask ... that's about $10,000 worth of gear I don't want to trust to the fellows tossing bags onto the plane ...

As for difference in pressure, unless your equipment (computer) is turned on, the pressure difference shouldn't matter. Some computers will recognize that you've flown or been at a higher altitude within a certain amount of time but if you're back on the ground before you start diving, there shouldn't be any issue with that.

I just found this amusing.
