Seems that there are 4 ailments a shod runner or wanna be runner will experience. Planter fasciitis, Achilles Tendon, Shin splints and kneees. these ailments are almost non existant in those that run barefoot. Transitioning over to barefoot, but it is long and the dang PF has to get stronger....

Water temp is about 83° right now. have you seen the BHB thread? REally nice photography from this weekend taken by Jim and Scott.

Doubles? Sounds like work to me! LOL

Google "The Science of Sport" for a terrific series of articles on both sides of the barefoot running debate.

It's a website run by 2 South African sports scientists who present great essays on a variety of topics related to endurance sports.

And I was so excited to hear our water in the high 50's! Last week was 53F!

Hit the gym last night for some cardio - elipitical for 30 minutes, then hopped back on for another 15 minute pump up some electronic hills! Felt great!

Still taking it easy with the foot. The hurt is mostly gone, but still there is a "presence," (for lack of a better word) every step I take. The other day, I walked more around the park with my VFFs and even did about 1/3 lap at a good pace. Rested/evaluated yesterday and was happy I did not regress. Dang tough taking it easy. Helps cause I don't have any races or anything planned right now... though there is talk of doing the ING Miami 1/2 in January with some friends.

Update......down to 203 and last Saturday (for the first time ever) I ran 15km (9.38 miles) without stopping or walking. My time sure wouldn't qualify me for the Olympic team but it felt fantastic.

That's awesome Brian. Congrats! 9 miles not stopping is huge!!!!

Ok let's see, in the past week did a couple of good weight workouts this week legs/chest/shoulder/tri's. Had a nice day of rock climbing/hiking and 4 of shore diving in doubles. Tomorrow I'm due for a long cardio pump.

It's been a strange couple weeks, I haven't been around the board much, with trying to get the kids getting ready to go back to Iraq. It's gonna be another long year.

I hit the scale this morning..224 lbs., total loss 116 lbs goal weight only 24 or so pounds away.

Congrats!!
What's the Iraq deal?

All my kids and their spouses are in the Army, and they are all rotating back to the sand trap.
