There a couple places I have used. 2 Of them make you sign a log book. The other one...

Are you a polygamist? :eyebrow:

I saw this for the first time on the live aboard.

We were responsible for measuring and logging the mix.

But, the analyzer would wander sometime 3%. I dove two tanks before I realized what a waste of time that analyzer was.

IMHO Its CYA, provide a box that gives some sort of reading and make you claim you tested it..

I'm ordering an analyzer.

Every place I've gotten Nitrox has required me to analyze and log. I'm not overly anal about it like some people I know, (meaning, checking the mix when I pick up my cylinders AND right before I dive) but I make sure that I know what's in them, and that they are marked clearly.

Oh..and the one place I get Nitrox locally, is a private person that has a compressor and blender, and HE has a log!

We fall into the 'OCD' category. As far as the owner is concerned it is a liability issue. If someone goes out and hoses themselves by exceeding depths, he can demonstrate that they knew those depths when they picked up the tank.

Some places I get fills at require you to sign the logbook with the cylinder number, date, mix, mod, etc. Others places I just analyze and label my cylinders. I really have no prefrence because all tanks in my shed are labeled with the contents and date.

I refuse to use geezer gas until I actually become a geezer, but the only LDS on the island that offers it has a mandatory log book. In this litigious society, I think it is (unfortunately) necessary to have divers self-document their fills.

Meh. Well....I log everything, even the stuff I blend.

All the best, James

So far all the LDS's I go to have had one and in addition to my signature . They asked for my NITROX cert. #. I myself do not mind . I think it will keep them onest and I know they do it to cover there A$$:mooner:. And I do not have a O2 anilizer , so I can see for myself and write it on the sticker for later use . My LDS also shows me the tank pressure so I know how much air he put in it . I had told him about a nother LDS THAT NEVER GAVE ME A FULL FILL . . Just a LDS +:D

I think the idea of a nitrox fill log to protect the LDS from liability is counter productive. The industry preaches 'always analyse your own gas' and personal responsibility to match your mix to your dive.

The moment you introduce an element of checking and supervision on the part of the LDS, you blur the line.

I also slightly grit my teeth against the ever prevalent concept that nitrox is so much more dangerous than air that we need to emply all sorts of special procedures for it. Old habits die really really hard.
